    Responsibilities

    • Promote acceptance of sound safety practices and encourage full participation of all company personnel throughout the Canadian operations
    • Work directly and build relationships with Management to balance environmental, health & safety requirements with production goals to ensure compliance with safety-related regulations, systems and practices.
    • Perform random inspections of job sites, facilities, equipment, vehicles, and investigations.
    • Solve safety related problems on the work site.
    • Immediately deal with identified problems by giving specific advice for the correction of the problem(s) to the General Superintendent, Superintendent, Foreman or worker as appropriate.
    • Manage documentation and reporting of safety related records and ensure compliance with governmental and company safety-related requirements.
    • Recommend safety-related programs, activities, recognition for employees
    • Provide various types of Environmental, Health & Safety training to all levels of employees

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Safety, Health and Environmental, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or other related field required
    • Must be able to work independently
    • Familiar with Federal and Provincial Environmental, Health & Safety regulations
    • Willingness to travel up to 40%
    • Ability and willingness to be on site at least 40% of the time.
    • Exceptional communication skills as well as tact and diplomacy
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the Internet is required
    • Certification to perform MSHA training requirements such as HAZWOPER, Confined Space Entry, and Tunnel Rescue
    • Ability to facilitate CPR and first aid training.
    • Experience administering safety in a construction or chemical manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
