    Corrpro Canada, an Aegion company, is looking for an IT Help Desk Technician to join our team in Edmonton.

    The IT Helpdesk Technician will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Helpdesk operation. This position is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to all Corrpro Canada computer system users; ensuring requests for support are handled in a timely manner. The technician will manage day-to-day deployment of PC’s and provide first line support for standard applications, standard operating systems, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting computer issues.  The technician will coordinate with other IT staff as needed to resolve Helpdesk reported issues and maintain best in class end-user service.


    • Setup and build of all desktops, laptops, and peripherals for local and remote locations. Includes the loading of applicable software and images as required.
    • Provide end-user desktop support for current supported versions of Windows, Citrix, and MS Office. Provide professional support to all Canadian users (including remote-mobile users) for all IT related technical issues including hardware, desktop software, business management applications, Smart phones, etc.
    • Utilize Aegion’s IT support team as needed to resolve customer issues. Support customers using multiple methods including remote, telephone, and email support.
    • Utilize Aegion’s IT Helpdesk software to document and track customer requests or issues. Responsible for resolving all help desk requests in a timely manner, recording and reporting resolution within the Change Gear ticketing system. Further escalating to the IT Manager as and when required.
    • Responsible for scheduling and performing routine upgrades and preventative maintenance on PC and Server equipment. Tune systems and recommend changes when appropriate.
    • Responsible for daily server backups, loading and unloading daily backup tapes.  Act as backup and provide additional Server support when requested.
    • Responsible for IT asset management of PC and other IT equipment, ensuring all equipment is properly asset tagged and recorded. Newly issued software must be properly licensed, with any discrepancies reported to the IT Manager.
    • Provide appropriate status reporting to management and/or teams.

    • Technical Diploma, in a relevant technical field.
    • Comptia A+ or similar certification preferred but not required.
    • 1 - 3 years’ experience in Helpdesk or IT support roles.
    • Experience in troubleshooting of LAN's and WAN's, switches, routers.  Troubleshooting TCP/IP issues.
    • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to convey technical issues in non-technical terms.
    • Must have the ability to work with limited supervision.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical operating procedures, white papers, manuals, installation instructions, etc. Effectively present information to individuals or groups and respond to questions.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists and interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Ability to accurately assess a problem, generate a hypothesis and formulate an efficient action plan for testing the hypothesis.
    • Position requires individual to have strong interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and empower, to be a strong communicator able to take initiative and function independently. 
    • Ability to work with intermediate spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.  Ability to learn new applications quickly. Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Power Point) required.

    Work Environment:  In performing the duties for this job, the employee will generally work in an office type environment but will occasionally be required to work in outside weather conditions (occasionally near job sites with moving vehicles and mechanical operations). Will be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate. Travel by automobile and airplane required.
